Licensed Installer
Electric stove, cooktop, oven or other hardwired cooking appliances must be disconnected, installed or replaced by a licensed and insured electrical contractor. Our qualified electricians ensure a safe fault free installation. Choosing an experienced professional is essential, as any faults resulting from improper installation by an unlicensed person may void your insurance or product warranty. Electrical Results have successfully installed hundreds of kitchen appliances over the years, guaranteeing a reliable and trouble-free installation. We will ensure that the appliance is tested and connected as per AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules and will provide an electrical installation certificate of test on completion.
Cooktop Isolation Switch installation and Repair
Electrical Results can supply and install, repair and replace cooktop isolator switches. An isolation switch for a cooktop or stove with cooktop must be visible and readily accessible within 2 metres of the appliance and not be in a position where the user would have to reach across the cooking surface to operate the switch. The switch must not be mounted on the cooking appliance itself. Switches, power points or isolation switches must not be located within 150mm of the edge of an open cooking surface. For electric ovens there are no specific isolation requirements.
A safety switch is now required on cooking appliance circuits
Since 1st January 2019 a safety switch is mandatory when alteration to an existing residential cooking appliance circuit is undertaken. Many homes only have the power circuits protected. For existing homes where a single item of electrical equipment is replaced with an equivalent item in the same location a safety switch does not need to be installed. However, to ensure the highest safety standards, it is preferable to add a safety switch if one does not exist.
Electric stove installation
Electric stoves, also known as a freestanding oven, have specific safety and legal requirements and manufacturers’ installation instructions when installing them. Electrical Results can help you with the safe disconnection, installation and replacement of your new stove. When purchasing a new stove make sure that it will fit the installation location, if not you will need to have cabinet work completed prior to installation. In certain situations a cooktop/stove isolation switch or safety switch will have to be installed.
Electric Oven Installation
Electrical Results can safely disconnect, install, and replace your new oven complying with the required safety regulations. Ovens come in various sizes and require specific clearance requirements, these vary depending on the brand and model. When looking to purchase a new oven the oven’s manufacturer guide will specify the dimensions and what needs to be done to ensure a safe installation. If cabinet alteration is required, you will need to have this completed prior to installation. If you have a gas cooktop above your oven, gas lines may be present in your oven space and will have to be moved prior to installation if your new oven does not safely clear the gas pipes. In some cases the law requires a safety switch to be installed on your oven circuit.
Electric Cooktop Installation
Need a cooktop installed? Electrical Results provides cooktop disconnection, installation, replacement and upgrades. When choosing a new cooktop you will need to ensure that the overall size and cut-out fits into the existing benchtop. The manufacturer guide will specify the dimensions. In some cases we can cut out a laminate bench top if the cut-out is too small however we do not provide cabinet work or cutting of other benchtop materials. You’ll need to have this completed prior to the installation of your cooktop. A safety switch and a cooktop isolation switch may also have to be installed.
Upgrading to an Induction Cooktop
When upgrading to an induction cooktop from a standard electric cooktop power supply upgrades may be required. Electrical Results not only can install your new induction cooktop but can also provide circuit upgrades, switchboard upgrades, mains power upgrades and installation of a cooktop isolation switch if required to safely accommodate your new induction cooktop.
